Glass application has become a new division of architectural theory opening up a wealth of possibilities for visual expression. In the cycle of three papers author presents a general outline of emerging trends in architectural transparency and various forms of glass façade application. In the first part of the cycle author concentrates on the issues of architectural honesty of the glass use in façades and presents the most recent achievements in the flat glass manufacturing technologies. A short outline of the recognized trends is also included.
