Since 1989, European Union has been supporting, through PHAREprogram, all the processes preparing societies and economies of CEEC for integration. The PHARE programme includes grants supporting environment protection and waste management programs possible, as well as reduction of waste producing, recycling, and establishing nem technologies of thier utilization. Złotów is one of towns situated in north - west Poland which (together with its German twin - town) was granted UE funds for imporving the level of waste management.
