Milling Optimization of Difficult to Machine Alloys
Paper presents some simulation researches of milling process basis of a numerical calculations. Titanium and corrosion resistant alloys (Ti6Al4V, 34CrNiMo6) workpieces with geometrically complicated surfaces (free-form surfaces) were machined with a tool made of sintered carbide. After simulation a machining of the modeled surfaces was performed on the CNC milling center. Different strategy of tool paths were built basis of the CAM software. The purpose of the optimization procedure was the maximization of the machining efficiency at the satisfactory level of surface quality, described by the chosen surface topography parameters.
