W strefie pęknięć płaszcza kolumny destylacyjnej smoły węglowej, z których odbierany jest olej karbolowy iolej naftalenowy wykonano badania struktury i pęknięc oraz pomiary twardości i grubości blach. Do badań struktury i charakteru pęknięć zastosowano metodę replik matrycowych i obserwacje w skaningowym mikroskopie elektronowym. Pomiary twardości i grubości przeprowadzono przenośnym twardościomierzem Equotip i przenośnym grubościomierzem Krautkramer. Określono przyczyny powstania pęknięć w płaszczu kolumny.

Structure of the base material and of cracks as well as hardness and thickness of the plates was examined on the level of the shell corresponding to collection of carbolic and naphthalene oil. The fractures were examined by means of replicas and scanning electron microscope observations. Hardness and thickness was measured by means of portable instruments (Equotip and Krautkramer, respectively). Causes of the craks were explained.
