Use of topological indices and retention times to predict the octanol- water partition coefficients (log P) of selected aliphatic compounds

Selected aliphatic compounds have been separated by reversed-phase (RP) HPLC and the log P values of the compounds have been correlated with retention times and with the numerical values of topological indices. Accurate prediction of the log P values of the aliphatic compounds investigated was achieved by use of biparametric equations employing two topological indices or the retention time and one topological index.
