Wartości kulturowe i ekologiczne parku miejskiego w Zamościu
In the years 1919-1926 the 11 hectare park was established on the area of the previous 19th century fortress. The park was designed by engineer Walerian Kronenberg while the field works were managed by engineer Edward Kranz. The main aesthetic and landscape advantages are: the lay of the land, the preserved and renovated Old Lublin Gate with fragments of the Renaissance fortifications (bastion4), preserved coop, moats, culverts, the brick bridge and two wooden ones, and the decorated main entrance gate. The composition of green and water positively influences the psyche of strolling people. The park distinguihes by the beautiful space management and the aesthetic of carefully composed greenery. The park being an element of the city green fulfils basic ecological functions: sanitary function consists in the air protection, especially against the low dust emission and in creating the noise barrier fir the nearby traffic arteties in directions of Lublin and Biłgoraj, space function should be understood as the biocoenotic intergration of the adjoining city's green spaces. Among the natural vales of the park are: marshy meadow biotop in the part of the peninsula surranded by the pond, monuments of nature such as a chestnut tree and plan trees also a beautiful chestnut tree lane, multispecies and multilevel greenery. The city authories should take a decision about the enlargement of the park limit, the more so as the idea has been existing since 1985.
