Krystalizacja szkliw bazaltowych i melafirowych w aspekcie wytwarzania włóknistych materiałów izolacyjnych.
The aim of present paper was comparative study of traditionally used basalts (from Gracze deposit) and melaphyres from exploited Lowe Silesian deposite for the production of the insulating fibrous materials. The glasses obtained and products after their heat treatment were examined by X-ray diffraction analysis XRD, SEM microscopy and infrared spectroscopy (IR). The investigations completed have shown that the glasses produced using melaphyres are characterized by lower crystalization ability than basalts ones. However, their acidity modulus and viscosity were too high and the melaphyre glasses have been modified with addition of dolomite from Rędziny as well as blast furnance slag from Częstochowa steel works. The basalt glasses annealed at temperature 750 degrees C have shown beginning of crystalization while the melaphyre glasses annealed up to 800 degrees C do not crystalize, which is favourable for the production of rock wool. XRD and IR analyses showed that augite and plagioclasses are products of crystalization of this glasses, it has been confirmed by SEM/EDS analyses.
