Cavitation erosion of the Armco iron (E04).

Kawitacja powoduje różne uszkodzenia materiału w zależności od intensywności kawitacji. W artykule przedstawiono badania zależności między intensywnością kawitacji a zmianami mikrostruktury żelaza Armco. Obserwowano spadek mikrotwardości w początkowym okresie inkubacji, a następnie wzrost mikrotwardości. Efekty te przypisano zmianom struktury warstwy wierzchniej pod wpływem kawitacji.

The cavitation can cause different damage in material depending on its intensity. In the presented paper the relationships between cavitation intensity and changes in the Armco iron microstructure were investigated. The initial decrease of microhardness followed by its increase was observed at the beginning of incubation period of cavitation process. The observed effects were attributed to the changes in intrinsic structure of surface layer due to the cavitation process.
