A methodology of assessing the fatigue effort using numerical calculatios. A discrete model of the gantry of the dredger KWK-1500s was built, while the values of local external loads were determined experimentally. The strength calculations of the excavator gantry were made by the finite element method (FEM). Fastness was estimated in the places close to the cracks appearing in the supporting structure of the excavator chassis.
