The physical and chemical characteristics, technologies and the range of the application of garnet in wet and dry pneumatic-abrasive blasting operations on various materials has been widely described in the paper. It is emphasized that this is a universal and durable abrasive, with significant importance when used in the open air. The possibility to use equipment for the periodical recycling of garnet, which improves the economical effectiveness as compared to other non-metal abrasives has been shown. A technological comparison of garnet with other abrasives has also been included. The benefits of using the garnet in wet processes is emphasized.
