Copper and zinc content evaluation in bottom sediments of the upper Narew river and its selected tributaries

Studies were performed in summer 2003. In total, 133 samples of bottom sediments were taken from the Narew river and its tributaries and copper and zinc contents were determined. These element levels were recorded by means of AAS technique. People's economic and living activities are the sources of copper and zinc deposititon in bottom sediments of larger rivers. Small rivers flowing through agricultural and wood areas near the upper Narew river may be considered as pure with regard to carrer and zinc concentrations.

Badania przeprowadzono w okresie letnim 2003 r. Pobrano punktowo 133 próbki osadów dennych z Narwi i jej dopływów i oznaczono w nich zawartość miedź i cynk. Zawartość tych pierwiastków w osadach analizowano metodą ASA. Źródłem miedzi i cynku zdeponowanego w osadach dennych większych rzek jest działalność gospodarcza i bytowa człowieka. Małe rzeki przepływające przez tereny rolno-leśne w obszarze górnej Narwi ze względu na stężenie miedzi i cynku można uznać za bardziej czyste.
