Systemy informacji przestrzennej w rozwoju e-uczelni

Artykuł opisuje istotę systemów informacji przestrzennej, ich definicję, krótką genezę, oraz przybliża zagadnienia funkcjonowania współczesnych systemów tego typu. Szczególną, uwagę zwrócono na możliwości ich wykorzystania w szeroko rozumianej informatyzacji. Przez przykłady zastosowań zwrócono uwagę na rolę, jaką mogą pełnić takie systemy we współczesnym społeczeństwie. Zostały określone podstawowe wymagania dotyczące oprogramowania, jakie mogłoby być wykorzystane w budowie systemu GIS, wspomagającego informatyzację, a w szczególności wspomagającego informatyzację wyższej uczelni.

The article introduces Geographic Information Systems (GIS), providing the definition and basics of them followed by a brief description of GIS origin as well as GIS specific functionalities and data. In the paper, the role, the possibilities and sample applications of GIS systems were presented in the context of widely understood computerization. Using this background, the concept of GIS supporting the computerization of high school or university was drawn, especially taking into account the increasing role of e-universities in education.
