Zastosowanie metod modelowania i symulacji do analizy efektywności procesu filtracji wody

The modelling and simulation procedure was carried out for water filtration on a multi-layered rapid filter. Consideration was given to the identification of the model parameters, and the application of a discrete model was suggested. The simulation of the process involved numerical solutions of the equations incorporated in the developed model. Numerical simulations were performed with the Mathematica programme. The results were plotted for the concentrations of pollutants in the water under filtration, for the concentrations of pollutants deposited in the bed and for the headloss in the bed. The qualitative and quantitative agreement of the variables obtained by simulation with the variables determined in the course of the physical process was adopted as a measure of the model quality and of the adequacy of the corresponding numerical process. The numerical model developed for the needs of the study may serve as a tool for improving the efficiency of water filtration, both at the stage of design and at the stage of filter operation.
