Entrapment of labelled polyvinylopirrolidone with molecular weights of 10 kDa, 40 kDa and 360 kDa in calcium alginate gel was studied. The entrapment efficiency was determined using spectrophotometric measurements. It was found that only polyvinylopirrolidone with a molecular weight of 10 kDa diffuses freely from gel. The entrapment efficiency of polyvinylopirrolidone with a high molecular weight depends on the concentration of alginate in gel.
