Architektura sakralna Poznania (1900-1990)

Architektura sakralna w Poznaniu w XX wieku nie była, jak dotąd, przedmiotem odrębnych badań. Obiekty sakralne naszego miasta rzadko pojawiały się w ogólnopolskich, a tym bardziej międzynarodowych opracowaniach. Włączenie tego tematu w zakres studiów prowadzonych w ramach grantu KBN, poświęconego architekturze i urbanistyce Poznania w XX wieku, pozwoliło na pierwsze monograficzne ujęcie tego tematu.

The aim of the article is to describe the changes in the architectural design of churches in the city of Poznań from 1900 tiil ca. 1990. The article shows that the church architecture was influenced not only by the changing denominational patterns and the repressive policies of subsequent political regimes (first those of the Prussians and then of the communist government), but - more importantly - by the Second Vatican Council, which revolutionised the architectural forms and the interior design of churches in the second half of the 20lh century. The modernity of that design has caused controversy as to the appropriateness of the new sites for the role of houses of worship.
