This paper presents a method of attenuating start up processes of high power AC motors. In this method two separated thee-phase windings are used. During start up one of the winding is supplied from the network and the second one is connected to capacitor bank. Reactive component of the starting current is partially compensated by secondary winding current that is caused by transformation voltage. A mathematical model of this motor is presented. There were made calculations of transient characteristics which are compared to measured transients of manufacturing model.
