Wybrane aspekty konstruowania odwzorowań kartograficznych o możliwie najmniejszych zniekształceniach odwzorowawczych

The paper deals with map projection minimizing distortion problem. Main criteria of minimizing distortion are presented and some examples of map projection constructed using different criteria are shown. In conformal projection, the problem of minimizing distortions is resolved by Chebyshev theorem. In equal-area projection the problem is still open, because of its possible application to calculation of geodetic polygons. Moreover, a search is going on for the equal-area projection for EU.
