Analiza terenu dla celów wojskowych na podstawie cyfrowych zobrazowań powierzchni

The digital imagery is a powerful source of information for military use. This paper describes author.s research in the analysis of digital image data in terrain evaluation for military needs. It includes qualitative and quantitative definition of information and elaboration methods of information extraction. The proposed methodology is based on extraction of supplementary information from imagery with the use of the expert system technology for military intelligence and terrain evaluation. Expert system technology takes the classification concept a giant step further by analyzing and identifying features based on spatial relationships with other features and their context within an image. The knowledge base identifies features by applying questions and hypotheses that examine pixel values, relationships with other features and spatial conditions. Analyzed dataset contain panchromatic and multispectral satellite scene: LANDSAT, SPOT, IRS, IKONOS and aerial photos. The paper points to problems connected with extraction of information from imagery.
