Technologie interoperacyjne w projekcie GEOPORTAL na przykładzie użycia usługi WMS

The aim of this work is to present a concept of the geodetic and cartographic information infrastructure which is based on the service oriented architecture. The concept coincides with the objectives of the GEOPORTAL.GOV.PL project, which is focused at building such an infrastructure in Poland. By assumption the infrastructure consists of Internet accessible nodes providing geodetic and cartographic spatial information. The work presents the technological background for the infrastructure implementation, concerning OGC protocols in particular. The role of HTTP protocol is explained, together with the description of WMS protocol accompanied with the examples of its use in practice.
