Ocena Efektów Ekologicznych Integracji Procesu Corex z Zespołem Wielkopiecowym
The paper presents the effects of the integration of the Corex process and blast furnace technology, with special emphasis on the ecological aspects of such integration. The Corex installation may be applied together with blast furnaces in the case of modernization of existing steel mills, bringing some positive changes in the fuel gases management of the plant. CO2 depleted Corex gas may be introduced as the reducing agent and additional fuel in blast furnace technology. The use of Corex gas in blast furnace process leads to decreased consumption of coke, in this way decreasing harmful influence of the cokery on the environment, including decreased CO2 emission. Changes in the fuel gases management of the plant influence on the operational conditions of the other parts of the integrated system. Increased amount of blast furnace gas as well as the availability of medium LHV Corex gas is specially essential from the point of view of the metallurgical CHP plant, where the surplus of gaseous fuels is burnt. The evaluation of the ecological effects of the integrated system consisting of the Corex process, CO2 removal, blast furnace and metallurgical CHP plant demands the analysis of changes, caused by the introduction of the Corex gas, which concern every element of the integrated system.
