Among the building materials glass is the most illusory, but practical. The use of glass in architecture is directly connected with the possibilities of producing it. At the early stages of manufacture development glass parts were relatively small, which was due to its potential of being hand-shaped; besides, the degree of its transparency was insufficient. As the technology of building glass developed, the surface of glass in buildings increased. In the nineteenth century, with industrialization and increasing quality of glass produced, the first attempt was made to use it in the spectacular architecture. Nowadays, a large glass is not only a formal procedure for the visual and functional connection inside the house or apartment with the environment, but also allows for the acquisition of heat from solar radiation. Such solutions are clearly an attempt to get closer to the residential architecture of modern principles of sustainable architecture. The idea of transparency has been brought about in today's technologically advanced embodiments of the glass houses, which were no longer simply a literary fiction.
