While the first aims to improve the quality of information available at the semantic (semantic interoperability), which concerns the technology, the second term refers to a number of social phenomena. And here is only one step to the Semantic Web technologies and Web 3.0. The article presents the assumptions semantic web technologies such as ontologies and knowledge representation methods. The possible use of the application of Semantic Web - web portals, multimedia collections, corporate web site management, design documentation, agents and ubiquitous computing - popular Internet services and applications for all are discussed.
