This paper widens the knowledge of subject concerning conditions of plastic pipes installation in ground. It also pays attention to the most important factors influencing on their durability. The paper covers the differences between flexible and traditional – rigid systems and describes more complex engineering aspects which should be taken into account at the design stage to ensure faultless operation of the plastic system. It is also recommended to follow the guidelines from the PN-ENV 1046 standard in design and installation, which is very important for plastic systems installed below ground.
