Modification of Glassy Carbon Electrode with Phenanthroline Complexes of Manganese(II) Immobilized in Nafion Layer
Complexes of Mn(II) with 1,10-phenanthroline in molar ratios 1:2 and 1:3 were synthesized and immobilized in Nafion layers on a glassy carbon electrode. The character of electrode processes was determined. The coatings were investigated electrochemically to examine the suitability of the modified electrode for electrocatalysis. Mn(III) disproportionation constants in the layer are lower than those in solution. Mn(III)/Mn(II) couple formal potentials are also lower but still high enough to give theoretical possibility to use it as an electrocatalyst. The topography of modifying layer was investigated with atomic force microscopy (AFM).
