The paper reviews the applied prospecting methods and potential methods of testing the seismic anomalies related to gas accumulation in the Miocene deposits of the Carpathian Foredeep. Since many detected anomalies is demonstrated by test drilling to have no commercial value, it is important to develop a set of effective methods allowing for verification of the hydrocarbon potential associated with particular anomalies.
