Features of a project cause using of special assessment instruments bringing information on how the project was realized. One of the main aspects of project assessment is earned value, which may be analyzed in different areas, such as costs, terms, quality etc. The Earned Value method allows to monitor a project progress during its realization in the main areas. To use this method it is necessary to construct a budget of project properly. The budget should present costs estimated separately for each single task, specified in Work Breakdown Structure. Moreover, it is necessary to take into consideration a schedule of project realization, presented in a Gantt chart. It allows to observe a progress of project during its realization, indicating cost and schedule variations. The information brought by using this method enables assessment of project undertaking before its ending and increases probability of its realization with success.
