Dynamic Analysis of Sandwich Structure in Presence of Shock
Sandwich structures have been broadly used in civil and aerospace engineering. The configuration of sandwich panels with two stiff face sheets and viscoelastic core provides high energy absorption capability. In this work we study the dynamic behaviour of sandwich plate in presence of shock. The shock is modelled by a contact between sandwich plate and a fixed rigid solid. A numeric model is developed based on Newmark implicit model. At the shock location, two conditions are imposed on the contact nodes: the displacement in these nodes must be lower or equal to the distance which separate sandwich plate from rigid solid and the velocity is null. The dynamic results prove the attenuation of vibrations for sandwich structure.
