Numerical Modelling of the Influence of Particle Size Distribution on Pulverised Coal-Flame Behind the Swirl Burner
The results of numerical simulation of pulverised coal-flame behind the semi-industrial scale swirl burner are reported. The influence of size distribution of coal particles in pulverised coal on the standard of numerical simulation was examined. The primary objective of the paper is the problem often occuring in coal combustion modelling of too far distance of a flame stand from the burner. The results of numerical computations are compared with the experimental data obtained in the semi-industrial scale installation. It was shown that the fraction of submicron coal particles should be considered carefully in the mathematical model, because they are important in flame formation and propagation.
