Investigation of dynamic stability of ships and proposed criteria of dynamic instability

Proposals for the permissible amount of dynamical course instability for ships were analysed. With participation of a number of pilots tests were performed of the possibility of steering dynamically unstable ships. Criterion of dynamical instability was proposed in the form of permissible width of instability loop which could be obtained from spiral test. Possibility of establishing a relationship between instability loop width and overshoot angles obtained from zig-zag tests was investigated.

Przeprowadzono analizę propozycji dopuszczalnej niestateczności kursowej statków. Zbadano przy udziale szeregu pilotów możliwości sterowania statkiem niestatecznym kursowo. Zaproponowano kryterium dopuszczalnej niestateczności kursowej w postaci szerokości pętli histerezy otrzymywanej przy próbie spiralnej. Zbadano możliwość ustalenia zależności pomiędzy szerokością pętli histerezy a wielkością kąta przewyższenia przy próbie zyg-zag.
