Investigation on the Ignition Phenomenon of Gaseous Fuels in High Temperature Oxidizer
Modern, effective and ecological combustion technologies have been taken into consideration for environmental reason. High Temperature Air Combustion (HTAC) is an example of modem combustion technology. It has achieved 30% reduction in energy (and hence also CO2 and NOx emission). HTAC is applied in many commercial aspects, especially both in the ceramics and steel industry; however this technique is still a subject of scientist's research all over the world. The paper presents the results of study on the new aspects (concerning the spontaneous ignition) of methane and propane in various volumetric composition high-temperature oxidizer in a combustion chamber with a constant volume. It was discovered that in order to achieve the minimum ignition delay time Tau' and the maximum of increment of temperature Delta T, the various type of oxidizers have to be preheated to a temperature equal to 800-850oC (in the case of methane) and 630-675oC (in the case of propane).
