Computer-based assessment of shedding abilities

In the past phenomenon of warp thread clinging has been studied as a negative technological aspect [1,3,4,14,15,18,19,20,21]. On the other hand, the nature of the shedding process has been investigated theoretically [5,8,11]. Consequently. there exists the foundation and the need for a rational assessment method of the phenomenon itself; the paper proposes one. As demonstrated in theoretical [11] and experimental [7,9,10,12] studies, the clingingcurve describes the real passing conditions and state of the warp threads in shedding. Therefore it is now proposed to assess the clinging phenomenon by digital on-line identification and appraisal of clinging curve. The experimental study [13] confirms the feasibility of the proposed computer-based method of clinging assessment.
