Whenever teams of people undertake common and organized work, whose final effect takes the form of achieving a previously determined goal, key role of management follows. Currently, effective management forms a distinct field of science that is determined in terms of principles, practices and terminology. The market conditions including the risk of any economic undertaking encourages one to reorient the systems of adopted management towards a strategic approach. The strategy formulated nowadays has to ensure the fulfillment of determined goals while accounting for dynamic changes in the environment. The conditions, in which the businesses have to operate nowadays, including companies in power engineering sector, are quite different from the ones that have been determined by the directions of operation both several and a few years ago. The meeting of new challenges, including high efficiency and effectiveness of operation, concentration of capital resulting from globalization and fierce competition have brought the pre-requisite for a capable and constant transformation of an organization in accordance with the developed and realized management strategy. In the course of the considerations into transformations in the power engineering sector one has to observe that it is one of the most capital demanding sectors of the national economy, which is mostly determined by the investment required in association with the present maintenance, modernization and development of the network infrastructure. Concurrently, the strategic perspective of the functioning of enterprises in this sector is based on the relations between particular projects (investment projects) and state budget and the current reporting period. One of the legal and organization forms that approves of the specific determinants of prospective and market-based functioning of an enterprise evolves around a concern considered as a single, integrated enterprise [7, 11, 12]. The selection of this form of ownership for the current national power engineering sector does not form a casual mater but is determined by the managerial functionality required in the up-to-date market economy.
