Hurtownia danych w strukturze przedsiębiorstwa, cz. II: dostęp do danych

In the previous chapter was introduced a model of creating data warehouse. However we can talk about data warehouse like a Decision Support System, after attaching applications, which analyze data and give some answer the specific questions asked by warehouse user. Those data are delivered to user by advanced tools of data accessing (DSS). First analysis of data is processed by system DSS which point query to database. Architecture of query system we can divide on 3 layers: - back end - front end - core To design them was used Oracle Discover program - main tool to creating reports and analysis. Applications of systems DSS generate two kinds of queries: - query for attributes accessible in dimension - query for facts After point query to data warehouse user get result in the form of report which most often appears in tables where dimensions are signed by values of attributes and rows includes calculating values. Usually reports are generated by Structured Query Language (SQL). In this chapter was introduced data warehouse, where access to data offers user possibility to give him as best answer the specific questions as system can solve and give him the best way how to make decision. To recapitulate, well introduced data warehouse is huge place of knowledge, which makes possibility to operation connected with planning and strategy in company, nowadays and in the future. Data warehouse is an investment which in the best way has to contribute to detect today irregularity of operation and in particular characterize trends for the nearest future of working company.
