Geodynamics of Central Europe - organisation of geodynamic studies within the second phase of the project CERGOP

One of the main objectives of the second phase of the Project CERGOP-2 (Central Europe Regional Geodynamics Project) is to continue studies on geotectonic regions of Central Europe. A special study group CSG.% "Geotectonic analysis of the region of Central Europe" chaired by the authors was established in 1999 to coordinate the research of particular sub-groups. There are 7 sub-groups: 1. Monitoring of recent crustal movements in Eastern Alps and the North and Eastern Adriatic with GPS (chaired by Italy). 2. Three dimensional plate in Romania (co-chaired by Germany and Romania) 3. Integration of present geodynamic investigations in the Pannonian Basin (chaired by Hungary) 4. International geodynmics of the Tatra Mountains (co-chaired by Poland and Slovakia) 6. Geodynamics of Northern Carpathians (chaired by Ukraine) 7. Geodynamics of the Balkan Penisula (chaired by Bulgaria). Programme and updated plan of work within the second phase of the project CERGOP-2 for 2002-2004, methods of coordination and expected results are given in the paper.
