W części pierwszej artykułu omówiono sytuację na rynku transportu intermodalnego w Europie oraz układ powiązań między głównymi jego uczestnikami. Część druga poświęcona została zaprezentowaniu sposobów wspierania transportu kombinowanego/ intermodalnego przez Komisję Europejską. Część trzecia to analiza studiów przypadków w Austrii i Włoszech dotyczących wspierania rozwoju liniowej i punktowej infrastruktury transportowo-logistycznej. W części czwartej (podsumowaniu) scharakteryzowano metody wspierania rozwoju transportu kombinowanego/intermodalnego w krajach Unii Europejskiej.
In the first of them there is discussed the situation existing on the market of intermodal transport in Europe as well as a system of connections between the main its participants. The second part has been intended to the presentation of the ways to supporting the combined/intermodal transport by the European Commission. The three part is the analysis of the studies in Austria and Italy relating the support for the development of the linear and punctual transport/logistics infrastructure. In the four part (summary) there is made the characterization of the methods for supporting the development of the combined/intermodal transport in the countries of the European Union.
