Polish licence plate numbers recognition system

The article presents research carried out at OBRUM related to character recognition using an artificial neural network. The study concerned the recognition of Polish licence plate numbers of and was part of a project in the area of intelligent video analysis. The steps of licence number plate detection, segmentation, reconstruction and character recognition are discussed in detail. In conclusion, reference is made to the possibilities of using the research results in other applications.
