The profession of the architect in Poland is one of the public trust and is described as requiring the specific qualifications, predispositions and capacities such as understanding the needs of the others, positive attitude towards people, easy way of approaching the others and understanding the relations occurring between the people and the buildings. The problem in quality of performing this profession in our country relies upon the superficial approach to the user while declaring him/her as the main subject of architects’ actions. This conclusion comes out of the research of the environmental psychologists examining this problem, in which the need to set the guidelines and principles leading to the systematized inclusion of the problems of the users into the process of architectural design, effective from the point of view of both design team and realization of the design task, was constructively emphasised. In order to improve the situation it would be advisable also to include this problem into the architectural education, especially in the area of communication and empathy as architects, according to the ethical priciples are responsible to the society they serve.
