Functioning of inland navigation on the lower Vistula in the light of water levels

The article presents the functioning of inland navigation on the lower Vistula River in light of water levels. Based on data on the number of vessels passing through the lock on the lower Vistula River in Włocławek, a significant decrease in the number of vessels using this lock was observed between 1993 and 2022. At the Włocławek lock, the share of freight transport decreased in favor of tourist transport. This shift was the result of many factors, with the most important being the low water levels of the Vistula, especially in the section from Włocławek to Fordon. At the remaining locks located along the lower Vistula River waterway, with the exception of the lock in Czersko Polskie, tourist transport dominates over freight transport.

W artykule omówiono funkcjonowanie żeglugi śródlądowej na dolnej Wiśle w kontekście stanów wody. Na podstawie analizy jednostek pływających pokonujących śluzę na dolnej Wiśle we Włocławku, stwierdzono znaczny spadek korzystających z niej jednostek w latach 1993-2022. W szczególności, na śluzie we Włocławku zauważono zmniejszenie udziału przewozów towarowych na rzecz przewozów turystycznych. Przyczyną tego trendu jest kilka czynników, wśród których najważniejszym jest zbyt niski poziom wód Wisły, zwłaszcza na odcinku od Włocławka do Fordonu. Na pozostałych śluzach położonych w pobliżu drogi wodnej dolnej Wisły, z wyjątkiem śluzy w Czersku Polskim, transport AGB również dominuje nad towarowym.
