Jozef Supiński - author of the first sociological theory after the Polish Enlightenment The article discusses the place of knowledge of society at the beginnings of institutionalized science and learning outside the educational system in Poland. The author touches upon the problem of the feedback between the ideologies of the Enlightenment, Romanticism, and Positivism, on the one hand, and the praxis of Polish social management, on the other. In presenting an outline of the sociological theory of the founding father of Polish sociology, Jozef Supiński, she points out that in his theory Supiński also made use of the European experiences of the participants of the Napoleonic campaigns and the revolutionary and insurgent social movements of the first half of the 19th century, as well as the sociopolitical writings of the French Enlightenment.
