Assessment of changes in wood surface properties caused by aging techniques

The paper presents results of a study investigating the effects of selected wood aging techniques on the properties of wood surface and its appearance. The samples were subjected to such processes as: structuration, dying with a potassium permanganate solution and ammonia fuming. We tested colour and gloss, resistance to scratches and resistance to abrasion. The treatment processes and tests were performed on samples of oak and pine wood.
