Due to a large increase of mobile devices, such as smartphones or tablets, it is more and more easy to select the route between two points or just to locate a chosen positions. Developing these kind of applications is also very easy because developers have got a wide range of up-to-date software and tools, such as: developing environment, libraries and frameworks. The article proves a statement that creating a mobile application for iOS platform is an easy task due to the usage of the latest frameworks and tools. In order to prove the thesis a mobile application is created for iOS 7. It uses Internet connection which is necessary both to locate two given points and to compute the distance between them. The successive stages of its development is described in detail. The application bases on two main frameworks: MapKit and CoreLocation. It is developed in the latest Xcode developer tool. This kind of application has got a wide use in the sport disciplines but the relevant geographical and topographical conditions have to be taken into the consideration.
