Od kilku lat trwają dyskusje związane z definiowaniem logistyki oraz systemów logistycznych. Dla wielu logistyka powinna być osadzona w teorii systemów. Nadużywanie pojęć związanych z logistyką obserwowane jest zwłaszcza w odniesieniu do systemów logistycznych. Termin "system" jest często dość swobodnie interpretowany. Zdaniem autorów jedną z przyczyn takiego stanu jest nieścisłe definiowanie systemu, często wynikające z nieznajomości teorii systemów. Zamiarem autorów jest uporządkowanie związków logistyki z teorią systemów. W artykule opisano ogólną teorię Klira oraz Mesarovića.

For several years, discussions are ongoing concerning the role of logistics and logistics systems. For many logistics should be embedded in systems theory. Abuse of concepts related to logistics is seen particularly in relation to logistics systems. The term "system" is often interpreted quite freely. According to the authors one of the reasons for this is inaccurate to define the system, often resulting from ignorance of systems theory. The intent is to organize the logistics and trade systems theory. This article describes the general system theory in terms of Klir and Mesarović.
