This paper analyses the impact of accession to the Euro-Area on wage dispersion in Poland. Firstly, the paper presents scale and determinants of wage inequality in Poland during the country’s recent economic transition. Subsequently, the paper seeks to determine how the Euro may affect the determinants of wage inequality in Poland. The analysis undertaken, suggests that the new currency will have an indirect influence on wage dispersion in Poland. The short term influence will be manifest in changes in foreign trade and as a consequence, in changes in labor demand patterns and longer term, in improvements in wage elasticity. But the scale of these effects will be relatively small, or even negligible. The analysis indicates that accession to the Euro-Area will have relatively little impact (as compared to the early stages of Poland's economic transition), on wage dispersion in Poland.
