Walking and Bike Recreation in the Poznań Metropolitan Area

The article describes results of a study conducted in 2015-2016 as part of a research project of the WSB University in Poznań entitled “The metropolitan region as a space of recreational penetration – the case of the Poznań agglomeration.” The study focuses on the recreation space of the urban agglomeration, which is part of a territorial recreation system used for recreational purposes by inhabitants of the Poznań Metropolitan Area. The aim of the study was to present motivations and preferences concerning the choice of walking and bike recreational activity in the Poznań Metropolitan Area. The article presents characteristics of the walking and cycling infrastructure in the Poznań agglomeration and inhabitants’ assessments of the agglomeration’s attractiveness as regards activities of this type.
