Evaluation of the „Finance and Accounting” programme in selected universities in Poland

The new line of study – „Finance and Accounting” – was introduced four yearsago on the basis of the previous programme – „Finance and Banking”. Major curriculaare the same as those suitable for „Finance and Banking”; they were copiedwithout taking into account the expectations of the future accounting professionals.The finance subjects dominate in the curriculum. For the purpose of the fulltimestudies curricula evaluation, six universities were chosen. At the first level ofstudies the subjects are similar. However, at the second degree studies there is agreat variety of subjects, reflecting the staff professional specialization.In the opinion of students the studies are too theoretical. There is a need to increasethe number of hours of practical classes in accounting, so as to balance thecurricula with finance subjects.
