Проблема гібридного словотворення в сучасному мовознавстві

The article deals with hybrid word-building which is closely connected with lexical borrowings in the vocabulary of the Ukrainian language. The reasons for such new hybrid formations are defi ned. The main reasons among them are interconnections between the borrowed and own word-building resources, and the growing agglutinative tendencies in modern word-building in Ukrainian, which actually make possible the combination of elements from different languages in the new derivatives. The usage of the borrowed words, stems, and formants in Ukrainian word-building of the 1970s to the fi rst decade of the 21st century is characterized. The peculiarities of the usage of the terms “hybrid”, “hybrid word”, “hybridization” in Ukrainian, Russian and English linguistics are clarifi ed. The tendency for growing hybrid formation in the Ukrainian language is denoted. The types of the new hybrid derivatives are clarified.
