The Polish dialects in Siberia: the programme of research

The article focuses on the issue of the research of Polish dialects in Siberia. Those dialects emerged as a result of the voluntary migration of Polish land owners and workers to this region from the Congress Kingdom of Poland, Belarus and Ukraine at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. The authoress compares the records of the Polish language from the village of Wierszyna near Irkutsk with the relicts of the Polish dialect from the village of Bialystok in the Tomsk region. The authoress' conclusions are that there are two basic types of dialectal Polish in Siberia: the first type continues Polish tribal dialects (Silesian, Lesser Polish), the second - dialects from the borderland (which emerged in consequence of contacts with East-Slavic and Baltic idioms). A 7-stage program of research of Polish dialects in Siberia is also presented.
