Působení mladočeského poslance Ervína Špindlera na říšské radě v letech 1890-1901
This study looks at Young Czech deputy Ervín Špindler while a member of the Austrian Imperial Council’s House of Deputies between 1890 and 1901. The focus is not really Špindler’s political actions as such, but more his insights and impressions as regularly told to his family and friends from the region around Říp Mountain. His extensive and very well preserved correspondence allows one to see how the House of Deputies worked, with all its pros and cons. As a member of the Young Czech Party (officially the National Liberal Party), Špindler also gives testimony to the activities of the Independent Czech Deputies club and the relations which existed between the different Young Czech deputies. As a close collaborator and friend of Gustav Eim, Eduard Grégr and other distinguished figures of Czech political history at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, he also gives us the opportunity to look at the private lives of Czech deputies living in Vienna.
