Horses have accompanied mankind for centuries in various fields of activity. One of them is horse racing. The purpose of the article (based on the analysis of the literature) is to present the elements determining that Thoroughbreds racing can be regarded as a global phenomenon. Among them, a special role is played by the dissemination of this form of racing, related to the history of this breed as well as the possibility that these horses are a global „product” because of global standards. This is a consequence of the system for developing and standardization of breeding in the world.
