Rozum i namiętności. Afektywna lektura „Zniewolonego umysłu”
Analytic strategies that Milosz uses in his book „The Captive Mind” include two essential scales: “the macro” concerning historical and political conditions influencing acceptance of the New Faith by communities (social and professional groups and nations), and “the micro” showing in a thorough manner rational and affective cases of the intellectualists, who either received and accepted the idea of communism or played a game with it in order to obtain financial benefits, gain power and receive a proper social status. There is a doubt whether the notion and strategy of „ analysis” used by Czeslaw Milosz is of a rational nature or whether it refers to, above of all, emotional factors, i.e. affective intensities, tensions and impulses sketched – as if on the margin, between lines, sometimes in a directed way – that “infected” and annexed the intellectual imaginarium through entirely different, irrational dimension of hidden and revealed passions.
